Boglands Academy (learn.boglands.ie) is operated by Wandering Albatross Ltd (CRO company number 435216), Ireland. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data when you use our online learning site.

Who we are

Wandering Albatross Ltd provides online courses and related learning services under the Boglands Academy name. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

What data we collect

  • Account data — name, email address, username, and password when you register as a student.
  • Enrolment and course activity — courses you join, progress, quiz or assignment results, certificates, and messages related to your learning.
  • Payment data — when you buy a paid course or membership, payment is handled by third-party payment processors. We receive confirmation of payment and order details; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Technical and usage data — IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited, including data collected via cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy).
  • Communications — emails or form messages you send us (for example via learn@boglands.ie or the contact page).

Why we use your data (legal bases)

  • Contract — to create your account, enrol you on courses, deliver learning content, and process payments you request.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the site secure, improve our courses, prevent abuse, and understand how the site is used (including analytics).
  • Legal obligation — where we must keep records for tax, accounting, or other Irish/EU legal requirements.
  • Consent — where required for non-essential cookies or marketing (you can withdraw consent at any time).

Payment processors

Paid enrolments are processed by third-party payment providers connected to our learning platform (MasterStudy LMS). Those providers process your payment data under their own privacy terms. We only receive the information needed to confirm your purchase and fulfil your enrolment.

How long we keep data

  • Account and enrolment records are kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards so you can return to courses and we can handle support or disputes.
  • Payment and invoice-related records are kept as required for accounting and tax (typically up to 7 years under Irish practice).
  • Analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider settings.
  • You may ask us to delete your account; we will erase or anonymise personal data unless we must keep it for legal reasons.

Who we share data with

  • Hosting and technical service providers who help us run the website.
  • The learning platform and payment processors needed to deliver courses and take payment.
  • Analytics providers (for example Google Analytics) when enabled.
  • Authorities if required by law.

We do not sell your personal data.

International transfers

Some providers (for example analytics or cloud hosts) may process data outside the EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or the provider’s equivalent protections.

Your rights (GDPR)

Security

We use HTTPS and normal administrative controls to protect the site. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; please use a strong unique password for your account.

Children

Boglands Academy courses are aimed at adults. If you believe we have collected data about a child without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
