This free taster introduces the craft of covering a pitched roof with water reed (Phragmites australis) as practised in Ireland today.
There are four short lessons and a 10-question quiz. It takes about 30–40 minutes. No experience is needed.
This course is taught from the practice of Mike Davies, who has 25 years specialising in thatching with water reed, working across Ireland as Heritage Thatching (heritage-thatching.com) and Thatching Ireland (thatchingireland.com).
